Cinematographer Evan Prosofsky and director Emily Kai Bock talked at length about dreams while in prep for Arcade Fire’s wildly popular music video “Afterlife.”
“We kind of resented the thought that dreams have to be sepia-toned and Gaussian-blurred,” says Prosofsky.

Malcolm Ludgate, ACS has the resume of a modern day adventurer. His far-flung treks have literally taken him to the edges of the Earth. IMAX® fans have seen his work in epic nature projects like Antarctica, and Australia: Land Beyond Time. Shark lovers have likely viewed the predators through the DP’s eye in TV documentaries like The Fox and the Shark and Shark Tribe. This cameraman has also taken his lens into some of Australia’s most unusual and dangerous places.
Ludgate loves the challenges that come with shooting in some of the world’s most extreme places. So, it’s easy to see why he was chosen for Hidden Universe 3D.

The Lone Ranger debuted on the radio in 1933. Soon afterwards, Republic Pictures brought the character to the big screen in serial form. Some 63 after his television debut, the Masked Man still lives in reruns.
Now, Bojan Bazelli, ASC and Gore Verbinski have brought The Lone Ranger back to theaters. The feature film promises to echo the mix of top-flight, large scale action and fun, irreverent dialog that Verbinski perfected in the Pirates of the Caribbean films. In the new film, The Lone Ranger, played by Armie Hammer, often plays the straight man, while Johnny Depp’s Tonto delivers the memorable quips.

Dan Mindel, ASC, BSC is known for his preference for 35mm anamorphic cinematography. In fact, he knows the serial numbers of his favorite Panavision anamorphic lenses by heart, and knows exactly how each lens will affect a given photographic subject.
“When I look through an anamorphic lens, it just feels very natural and human to me because the field of view is so wide,” he says. “The glass in these lenses that we’ve been using for the last 30 or 40 years was cut by hand, so there are imperfections. The light does unimaginable things when it hits those aberrations. An unquantifiable magic happens, and I love that. It’s one of the tools we use to sell the illusion.”
