Carousel Awarded Film Grand Prix at Cannes Lions
At the 2009 Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival, the Film Grand Prix Award was presented to Tribal DDB Amsterdam for the Philips interactive piece "Carousel,” which utilized KODAK VISION3500T 5219 film. Produced by Stink Digital in London, this visually-compelling short film was created to showcase Philips’ 21:9 cinema television screens. The concept takes viewers on a ride through the scene of a robbery where a gang of clowns in masks and jumpsuits battle it out with police. The action shots of the sequence appear “frozen,” and visitors have the option of stopping on a frame; watching behind-the-scenes commentary from the director (Adam Berg), DP (Fredrik Backar, FSF), and vfx supervisor (Richard Lyons); or looping through the fluid, single take.
