LaserPacific Wins HPA Award and Special Judge’s Award

LaserPacific receives three creative nominations and Special Judge’s Awards for Innovation and Creativity for its aIM Accurate Image System

HOLLYWOOD, CA  November 6, 2008 – LaserPacific Media Corporation was recognized in a number of categories and took home awards in the key Color Grading for Television area and a special Judge's Award for Innovation and Creativity for our aIM Accurate Image System at the 3rd Annual HPA Awards held November 6th at the Skirball Cultural Center.  LaserPacific colorist Joe Hathaway was awarded the HPA Award for Outstanding Color Grading  - Television for his breakthrough, stunning work on the ABC hit show - Pushing Daisies.

The HPA Judges Award for Innovation and Creativity is a special award unveiled this year "to recognize companies and individuals who have demonstrated excellence in the application of innovation to the postproduction process or to the postproduction industry." LaserPacific President Leon Silverman, who helped to found the HPA and has served as its President since its inception noted, "The aIM process is a part of the long tradition of innovation pioneered by LaserPacific. It is especially gratifying that our peers in post production have recognized the importance of our color calibrated workflow and the role it plays in the industry. For aIM to win one of the first Innovation and Creativity awards is especially gratifying. Additionally, that fact that so many nominations were for LaserPacific and its customers projects is true tribute to the quality of work for which LaserPacific plays such an integral creative role."

In addition, LaserPacific's Mike Sowa was nominated for two HPA Awards  -  Outstanding Color Grading for Feature Film in a DI Process for his work on the critically acclaimed film  - The Kite Runner and for Outstanding Color Grading - Television for the mini-series -  The Andromeda Strain. 

LaserPacific customers Man Men and Pushing Daisies were also nominated in the Outstanding Editing - Television category, with Pushing Daisies' editor - Stu Bass, winning the HPA Award.
