Cinematography Workshop Frequently Asked Questions


Q: What is included in the tuition cost?
A: You receive a $1,000(USD) certificate for KODAK Motion Picture Film (this is presented at the end of the workshop), Kodak's 4 educational CDs (What is Cinematography, Color and Light, Art of Lighting for Film and Nature of Film), lunches, craft service, professional crew, talent, film stock, film processing, 35mm equipment, a post production session, and a DVD of the images shot during the week.

Q: I am a film student in my 3rd year - is this workshop a good fit?
A: Yes, especially if you have some experience with camera operation.

Q: Are there various levels of experience for participants who attend the workshop?
A: Invariably, some are more experienced than others in any given workshop, but we try to match the skill levels as best we can.

Q: How do I register?
A: You fill out the registration form on our website and a Kodak representative will then contact you. You will then provide your name, address, phone number and payment information. You can pay via check, money order or credit card. Once payment confirmation is received from our Payment Processing Center, you will be notified via email that you are registered.

Q: Can I make payments (finance arrangements) or do I have to pay the entire registration fee upon registering?
A: The full tuition cost is due upon registering.

Q: Do I make my own hotel and transportation arrangements?
A: Yes, participants are responsible for their own hotel and transportation. We do recommend a few hotels for participant lodging, but it is ultimately your choice as to where to stay.

Q: Can I choose my film stock?
A: Yes, during the workshop week all current film stocks will be available.

Q: Do I need to bring my own light meter or any other equipment?
A: Since a light meter is an essential tool of cinematography, it's a good idea to bring one. If you don't own a light meter, the instructor will provide one.

Q: What are the hours of the workshop?
A: This is an intense week of activities and production. We normally run from 8:00am-6:00pm on the first day and the following days run from 8:00 am to 8 or 9 pm at night. We do one evening shoot - which means that day will start a little later and end later at night.

Q: What does the schedule look like?
A: A few weeks prior to the workshop, the Cinematographer teaching the workshop will be in touch via email. He/she will send you information on where to meet the first day, address, etc., along with a detailed itinerary.

Q: Do I receive a certificate to show I attended?
A: Yes, you receive a certificate of completion signed by the Cinematographer teaching the course.

Q: Will Kodak be hosting other cinematography workshops?
A: We have approximately 3-4 cinematography workshops throughout the world per year. The schedule is updated throughout the year, so please check our website for current workshop offerings. www.kodak.com/go/training
